Mythica Boardgame UNLOCKED!
almost 8 years ago – Fri, Jun 24, 2016 at 05:42:32 AM

Hi Friends,

Well, we hit the $110,000 stretch goal last night, which means BOARDGAME DEVELOPMENT IS UNLOCKED! Wahoo! I am actually really excited about this because this is a game that I want to play.

So, we have partnered with BERSERKER LABS to create an awesome boardgame for Mythica. We have had our initial discussions, and they have made a plan of action - and now, because we have reached out stretch goal, we can greenlight that plan of action.

So, in their own words, here is an explanation of the game from the good folks at Berserker Labs:

Mythica: Fate of Heroes (working title) is a game of high adventure, hard choices, frequent teamwork, and occasional betrayal. Two to five players take on popular characters from the movies--and some new ones--to hold off the impending tide of evil that threatens to swallow the civilized world. Danger looms from all directions, some of it familiar and some from previously unknown quarters. It is up to the players to decide which villains to focus their efforts against and what tactics to employ. Whether they become mighty champions in their own right or powerful leaders among the world's nations, each character will be forced to walk the path of a hero or face grim defeat.

Effectively this is a choose-your-own-adventure game with many possible outcomes and multiple paths to follow. The game itself has behaviors, determined in part by strict rules and in part by randomization through cards and dice, so the players will encounter a different pattern of events and different game momentum every time they play.

Our game has taken substantial inspiration from the Mythica films in order to provide a vast and complex adventure game that puts the players boots directly in the Mythica mud. The intention is for players to feel the pressure of overwhelming opposition and brutal choices. Fate of Heroes allows players to choose whether they will focus on the strength of their individual hero, on building up political support and amassing armies, or on some hybrid that suits their own personal strategy best. There are four potential villains (Szorlok and three new threats) that will be thinned out by either the players or each other as the game progresses, providing one titanic showdown at the end of every game, so long as the players can keep the world together that long. If the players beat the odds and come out on top, there is a final tallying of scores to determine who is the ultimate victor; but any win will be a good day for the players and the civilized lands.

 Sounds awesome, right?

So, we are not going to add it as a reward tier, BUT you will be able to pre-buy the game via the Backerkit survey. We are expecting a price of $70... so, if you want to boost the Kickstarter higher, feel free to add your $70 now by going to MANAGE PLEDGE (do not change your reward selection!!!). However, also feel free to wait until survey time.

Thanks!

DAGEN and MAREK costumes added, and Marek's BAG
almost 8 years ago – Fri, Jun 24, 2016 at 05:27:59 AM

Well, the Book of Vekru Nom went quickly.

Here's three more awesome additions:

MAREK'S BAG - hand-crafted from leather by David Powell, this is the actual travel bag used by Melanie Stone in Mythica 5. Ideal for cosplay or collectors. Includes the Bluray Fan Pack PLUS20.

MAREK'S COSTUME - the actual, one-of-a-kind costume worn by Melanie Stone throughout Mythica 5, including her weapon rig and weapon. Perfect for cosplayers. Includes the Bluray Fan Pack PLUS20. (Remember, she's tiny... probably 5'1")

DAGEN'S RIG - get Dagen's quiver, bow, weapon's rig, engraved weapons and pouches in this one-of-a-kind offering - the actual items used by Jake Stormoen in all 5 Mythica films. Includes the Bluray Fan Pack PLUS20.

Getting Close - NEW PROP ADDED
almost 8 years ago – Fri, Jun 24, 2016 at 05:27:08 AM

Hi Friends,

Getting close to that $110,000 goal! I will keep adding things to help us on our way, so this probably won't be the only update of the day...

I know many of you have been requesting smaller props, and while this isn't a mass availability prop, it is a smaller, cheaper option.

So, I give you the Book of Vekru Nom - an ancient record of Battlegrave - the Lich King Vekru Nom's battle with Tek, God of the Forge. It features in Mythica 5, and was handmade by our art department, featuring some drawings by David Powell - leather exterior, with fabric and ink interior. It's a fun little momento of Marek's journey and choices. So, if you're into ancient relics, this is the option for you :)

Also, I dropped the War Wagon to $7,500... that's a steal for a collector of rare vehicles...

Added Reward of the Day - DAGEN'S ARMOR, plus Online Premiere Added
almost 8 years ago – Fri, Jun 24, 2016 at 05:26:38 AM

Hi Friends,

The campaign ends this week, so we are in the last stages here - still trying to get to that $110,000 goal so we can unlock boardgame development.

Two things today to help that along:

1) Online Premiere - we did this on Mythica 4, and I think everyone who participated really enjoyed it. So, we have added the $5 digital premiere... this will be an online premiere screening, where we will premiere the film digitally long before we ship other Kickstarter rewards. So, if you want to see Mythica 5 really early, this is a great way to go, plus we'll have some exclusive cast and crew videos.

DO NOT CHANGE YOUR REWARD SELECTION - just go to "Manage my Pledge", add $5, and you will be able to choose this as an add-on when the survey comes. (Or do nothing, and just wait until the survey - but adding your money now will help us reach the stretch goal.)

2) Dagen's Armor - so, you might have noticed in the trailer that Dagen gets to level up in Mythica 5, and gets himself some Guildmaster Leather armor. Well, now some lucky person gets to own it! Again, this is a one of a kind offering, created by Powell Arts Workshop.

New prop: THE HAMMER OF TEK
almost 8 years ago – Fri, Jun 24, 2016 at 05:12:53 AM

Hi Friends,

So that last prop disappeared in a few minutes, so I am doing a 2nd weekend update.

Today, we are offering my most favorite prop of all. This is the actual hammer used by Kristian Nairn - the one and only Hammer of Tek, the only item in the universe with the power to destroy the Darkspore. This is the Hammer That Forged The World.

Because it was used by Kristian, who's a giant (as I've mentioned before), this hammer is pretty big. It's about 3ft in length and weighs a good 40 or 50 pounds. So, you can use it for your weight training in the morning - maybe hold it out straight and pretend you are on World's Strongest Man.

Here's the other cool part... we have TWO of them. One is made of steel, wood and molded resin (that's the heavy one) and the other is an identical stunt replica, made our of wood and plastic. Both were designed and crafted by Powell Arts (headed by David Powell, our brilliant weapons and armor designer.) Both were used by Kristian in the filming of Mythica 5, and both are equally cool, for different reasons.

So, we have 2 awesome rewards:

$1000 - THE HAMMER OF TEK - this is the wood and steel version of the hammer actually used by Kristian Nairn in Mythica 5. Handmade by Powell Arts Workshop, this is the Hammer That Forged The World. Includes the Bluray Fan Pack PLUS20.

$750 - THE HAMMER OF TEK (STUNT VERSION) - this is the wood and plastic version of the hammer actually used by Kristian Nairn in Mythica 5. Handmade by Powell Arts Workshop, this is the Stunt Hammer That Forged The World. Includes the Bluray Fan Pack PLUS20.

Producer Jason Faller is very afraid of this Hammer. It makes him feel like less of a man, or more of a man... we're still trying to figure it out...
